280ZX Wheels – Konig Rewinds

New Konig Rewinds wheels for Dad’s 280ZX

I did not like the look of the American Racing wheels that came on Dad’s ZX. I also wanted to step up to 15-inch wheels so I could use the stack of half-worn race tires from the Porsche 944.

I have always liked the look of eight-spoke Mini Lite wheels like the ones I had on my 710 and 510. I found the Konig Rewinds to have just the right look. I got the silver ones since the car is silver.

I mounted up a set of 245/40-15 Maxxis tires that I had stacked in the back of the barn. These filled the wheel wells pretty well even if they are smaller in diameter than the stock size.

Due to the smaller diameter, the speedometer was way off. Over ten percent. I ended up adding a GPS speedometer mounted to the steering column just in front of the original speedometer. I added a USB charger port where the blank for a second cigar lighter is in the center dash area.

My rear springs had a lot of sag and I did not like the nose high look. So I found a pair of springs on Rock Auto and installed those in the rear. This change brought the car back to level and makes it look much better to me.
